Joan Mir is looking forward to racing again at Phillip Island
MotoGp returns to Australia’s Phillip Island circuit on Sunday, Oct. 16, after a two-year stop due to the pandemic.
Similarly, there is also talk of a return for Joan Mir, who, pending a final fitness test, will return to racing in Australia after a long layoff due to injury, and the Majorcan is looking forward to getting back on his GSX-RR. He has only raced at Phillip Island once in the premier class, on his debut in 2019, where he finished an excellent fifth. But it is a track he likes and on which he has won in the smaller classes.
The Suzuki rider spoke this way ahead of the Australian GP: “I’m very happy to finally be back with the team; it feels like I’ve been out for a long time because of the ankle injury and I really didn’t want to miss any more races. All the checks seem to indicate that the ankle is healing well, so I hope not to be in too much pain this weekend. Phillip Island makes me very happy and I’m looking forward to trying it again with the GSX-RR.”
