Superbike in shock: Victor Steeman dead at age 22
Victor Steeman did not make it after the terrible accident in Portimao.
Victor Steeman didn’t make it: the Dutch rider, the victim of the terrible crash during race 1 of Supersport 300 at Portimao, died at the age of 22 at the hospital in Faro, Portugal, where he had been hospitalized since last Saturday.
Steeman, who had sustained very serious head injuries, had crashed in Turn 14 and was hit by another rider. Making the announcement is the Superbike organization in an official statement, “All our love to his family, team and loved ones. A great personality, a stubborn rider and a legacy left in our paddock.”
The rider’s family released this statement, “What was always feared as relatives of a motorcycle rider has happened. Our Victor failed to win his last race. Despite the very deep sorrow for our loss we are proud that our hero with his death managed to save five more lives through organ donation. We thank all the people who have been with us during these difficult days, our Victor will be sorely missed.”
