MotoGp, Ducati: Pecco Bagnaia clings to Casey Stoner
Pecco Bagnaia takes advice from Casey Stoner ahead of Philip Island
Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia spoke at the press conference ahead of the Australian weekend at the Philip Island circuit, the third-to-last round of the MotoGP championship, which still has three other riders in the race in addition to the Ducatista and Fabio Quartararo: Aleix Espargaró, Enea Bastianini and Jack Miller.
“It’s one of my favorite tracks. Our potential here is higher with the new fairing, let’s see. I improved on a personal level compared to 2019. The bike, apart from the fairing, is more or less the same and it will give us a hand here,” the Ducatista began.
Bagnaia then revealed that he will rely on the advice of a two-time world champion, who is at home in Philip Island: “I talked to Stoner, even today: it is important to use the opportunity to talk to him and he will help me.”
Finally, a comment on the fight for the world championship: “Championship? It’s like we’re starting all over again. Fabio and I are in front, but Aleix is not too far away either. Bastianini and Miller are still in the running. We are in a good moment and we have to take advantage of it.”
Francesco, aka ‘Pecco,’ Bagnaia after winning the Moto2 world championship in 2018 with Sky Racing Team VR46, will make his MotoGpin debut in 2019 riding the Ducati of Team Pramac Racing. In September 2020, he scored his first podium in the top MotoGP category at Misano. The following year he switched to the official Ducati team and finished the championship in second place, behind the French Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo.
