F1, Jos Verstappen books 5 more world titles
F1 world champion Max Verstappen’s father: “We’re in for a good five years.”
Max Verstappen has just won his second world title after a dominated Formula One World Championship, and according to dad Jos this could be just the beginning of a long domination: “The rules will remain largely the same in the coming years, the group will compact and the racing will get better and better. But the strongest driver always comes to victory, and if Red Bull continues like this, we’re definitely in for a good five years….”
At Viaplay Jos Verstappen looked back on a fairy-tale 2022: “Last year the pressure became unbearable, and when it was all over we were overwhelmed with overwhelming emotions, while this year it was just a matter of when we would win: we knew the title would come sooner or later.”
It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
