Virtus Bologna has come out on top against Bayern Munich

Virtus Bologna returned to victory in the Euroleague after nearly 15 years and did so with a great collective performance, which allowed the Bologna team to overcome Andrea Trinchieri’s Bayern Munich 66-63.

The coach of the Black VUs, at the end of the game against the Germans, spoke to the club’s official channels, “We are happy for the first win after so many years, and of course it was very tight. They have great players, with a lot of experience in this competition. We probably won by doing two or three things well, with defense and good shots especially when we had transitions in our favor. Bayern, we knew, is a tough team and well prepared by a very good coach so I think the guys were fantastic from start to finish, especially on defense. In attack I don’t think there were any problems but we got stuck at times. I am satisfied with the attitude: we had insisted on physicality and intensity last week. From the point of view of physical impact, we hadn’t done our best last week and today we showed that we can definitely do better.”

The head coach of the Spanish national team then stressed the importance of the returnees, primarily Milos Teodosic, who scored 9 points: ” The returnees were important for us just look at Teodosic. We have a lot of guards, so there is a possibility that they all play in turns: everyone has to be a team player and be professional. Hackett, Teodosic and Lundberg together I don’t think they are usable in the same arc of the game for many minutes, but finding the right combination is what we work on from day to day. When they were on the court they were facing a very small team, but when they are not they don’t become the best solution. We did well on the defensive changes we prepared during the week.”
