MotoGp, Aleix Espargaró spills the beans on race strategy
Aleix Espargaró feels the time is right to take risks
Aleix Espargaró, on the sidelines of qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix, which he finished with the fourth fastest time, which will therefore allow him to start from the first box of the second row, has unbalanced his opinion on the strategy he will have to adopt in the race, to try to make up as much as possible, in terms of points in the standings, on Pecco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo.
The rider of the number 41 Aprilia also wanted to thank his teammate Maverick Viñales, who helped him during qualifying, and admitted that it is the right time to take a risk: “Maverick helped me a lot, but at the last corner I was running into him and I had to cut the gas. Otherwise I could have taken pole. I think I was going a tenth faster than Jorge Martin’s pole at that point. It was a good job, though.”
“I don’t see Pecco or Fabio with a better pace than others, not even my own,” Espargaró added. I have the one with the least to lose, I have to make up 20 points, so I have to take a risk. I feel I can do it here, not like in Japan and Thailand. The strategy? We will all go together in the first 15 laps. The one who manages the rear tire better will win.”
