ATP Naples, Lorenzo Sonego pawing for debut
“Seeing the sea while you’re training is something wonderful,” Sonego admitted.
Lorenzo Sonego, a 27-year-old tennis player currently ranked No. 50 in the ATP rankings, attended the press conference on the eve of his debut at the ATP 250 tournament in Naples. The Italian will face Argentina’s Sebastian Baez, ranked 37th in the ATP rankings, in what promises to be a balanced match scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19.
Sonego began by expressing his feelings about the tournament, “I’m really excited. The clubhouse is beautiful, after all, I played the Challenger here a few years ago. Seeing the sea while training is something wonderful. This morning I practiced a little bit on the Arena, the court is perfect and I must say it is really an amazing location, I can’t wait to play.”
He then returned to the win in Metz: “In Metz we saw the results and those improvements I was working for since the beginning of the season. I know that I have to fill some gaps and above all I know that I have to find the right continuity. But I am sure that next year will be better.”
“Davis? I am at the captain’s disposal, although this season the results did not show how hard I was working,” he concluded.
