F1, competition grows for Daniel Ricciardo
Mercedes is not the only option for Daniel Ricciardo: the Australian, long courted by the Silver Arrows, has received an assist from Haas via team principal Steiner: “If he is interested in us, don’t hesitate to call me. I’m not going to chase him because I want him to decide what he wants to do for himself before being convinced by others to do something.”
“I think he is a good rider and I don’t know how he got into the situation he is in now, but I think he needs to be clear with himself and decide what to do. It would be a great success for us to be able to count on someone like him. He won a race last year. I respect him as a driver, I have no idea why he is not getting good results right now. It’s up to him to figure it out,” he told the Associated Press.
Daniel Ricciardo was born in Perth, Australia, on July 1, 1989. He grew up sportingly in the Red Bull Junior Team nursery and was Formula Renault WEC champion in 2008 and British F3 champion with Carlin in 200. He is the first driver from Western Australia to compete in Formula 1, where he landed in 2011 through HRT. From 2012 to 2013 he drove for Toro Rosso, then joined Red Bull. In 2019 he moved to Renault and in 2021 to McLaren.
