The dross from the derby defeat against Juventus has not yet been disposed of in the Torino household. Reached by Toronews.net, Serino Rampanti returned to the challenge against the Bianconeri: “The mentality was missing. The image of a team entering the field without a point is an image of giving up. It may be true that there were injuries involved, but Pellegri then came in. I would have put him in from the first minute to at least try to send a message. Games have to be approached by also showing that you want to play them. In general, I haven’t seen Juventus this bad in years, and a team like that had to be approached by attacking them with nastiness, to increase their doubts and uncertainties. This was not done.”

The former Granata midfielder also has some for Ivan Juric: “I understand Juric’s discouragement but I don’t understand saying it publicly like that, because such an attitude then affects the mentality of the players. If the leader gives up, what do the soldiers do? They may in turn lose confidence. And so this seems to me to be a rather delicate moment. When I read Juric’s statements after the derby I was surprised, because I did not expect this resigned tone from a fighter like him. These are counterproductive signals.”

The Granata have won just one point in their last five games: “A fundamental mistake was made in not understanding where this team needed to plug holes. If you have a sum to spend you don’t go and spend it on a defender but on a striker, because it was very clear that you had Sanabria who is what he is and won’t score more than 5-6 goals, Pellegri has good potential but is delicate. So a main striker to buy was the priority. I think it’s the mistake upstream that originated this situation.”

Lukic and his teammates will face Cittadella in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night, while in the next round of the league they will have to deal with Udinese. The match against the Friulians is set for Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
