A new problem at home Sampdoria: the blucerchiati, who hold the bottom spot in the Serie A standings, are also grappling with a board of directors questioning whether or not to keep their positions.

“Following yesterday’s events, the Board of Directors informs that the presence at the stadium of Mr. Massimo Ferrero was neither planned nor in any way endorsed by the Board itself or by any employee of the company,” reads the note issued Tuesday. “The BoD reiterates that it has always operated in total unity, independence and autonomy in the management of the company. In the coming days, the compact BoD will verify whether the conditions still exist for the continuation of its mandate in compliance with the aforementioned prerequisites having as its sole purpose the protection of U.C. Sampdoria.”
