In Trento challenge between world champions
Countdown for Cucine Lube Civitanova’s second consecutive big match, engaged on Thursday, Oct. 20 (8:30 p.m.) at the BLM Group Arena against European vice-champions Itas Trentino for the advance of the 5th day of the SuperLega Credem Banca first leg. The match, originally scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 29 and 30, has been placed in between the 3rd and 4th rounds of the Regular Season because the two teams will take part in the Del Monte Supercoppa 2022 at PalaPirastu in Cagliari on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Six world champions evenly distributed in the two rosters, although Gialloblù setter Riccardo Sbertoli, struggling with an abdominal problem, is not expected to be in the match. This is the calling card of a challenge between two teams that last season produced one of the best ever series in the Play Off semifinals, then won by the cucinieri with a great comeback.
Chicco Blengini’s red-and-whites got Marlon Yant back and put the home tie break mockery with Padova behind them by overwhelming Modena in last Sunday’s postponement at home. A success that resulted in a solitary third place in the standings on 7 points. The Trentino team, on the other hand, came from two defeats, in the photo finish on Verona’s court and in four sets in Piacenza without Sbertoli. Angelo Lorenzetti’s men are squirming in the group of teams with 4 points.
“Our group is young, we want to improve match by match. With Modena we managed to put a lot of pressure on our opponents! Now we have to stay focused! The challenge with Itas is the first of two tough away matches. We expect a real sports battle in Trent, but we will go there with the hope of imposing ourselves,” said Alex Nikolov.
