MotoGp, Luca Marini convinced on Marco Bezzecchi: “He did not want to overtake Bagnaia”
The driver of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team spoke about his teammate at Philip Island
Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider Luca Marini wanted to return to the good things done by teammate Marco Bezzecchi, who was also named ‘Rookie of the Year,’ in the Philip Island Grand Prix.
“He has been one of the fastest since Free Practice 1. I think he could have done even better, but maybe he didn’t want to overtake Bagnaia, so as not to take too many risks. I really think he could have done even better,” explained the 1997 class, in the words reported by ‘FormulaPassion’.
Bezzecchi himself confirmed his teammate’s assumption, stressing that he did not want to risk ruining everything: “I tried to overtake him, but the only point where I could make a safe maneuver was at the first corner, but at the last one I was losing too much. Pecco was really very fast, so much so that I couldn’t catch his slipstream. Plus his GP22 is faster than my GP21. Trying to overtake him in Turn 10 would have been stupid, for him, but also for me. Mine was a great race and I certainly didn’t want to end it in the gravel or outside the top 5.”
