F1, Ferrari: to Charles Leclerc the podium is not enough
Charles Leclerc analyzes the USGP from his perspective
Despite his place on the lowest step of the podium at the conclusion of a fine comeback, the post-United States Gp is anything but happy for Charles Leclerc, who on the sidelines of the awards ceremony expressed no small disappointment at yet another appointment postponed with victory.
“In some ways I am satisfied, because we were starting behind, but in other ways I am disappointed,” said the Ferrari driver. “We had the pace to win but the degradation of the tires during the race penalized us, we have to work on that. However, it’s not bad to start 12th and finish third.”
“Among this year’s races it was one of the toughest,” Leclerc added. “I dueled with Checo and Max, I was hoping to fight for the win but the tire wear took me back. Compared to Red Bull we have to understand how to manage the race finishes better. I remain convinced of Ferrari’s value, but we have to work to improve. Updates? For Mexico we don’t have any planned.”
