Madness in the stands, hooded men attack opposing fans
Hooded men attack opposing fans
The game in the third round of Greece’s top basketball league between Peristeri and AEK Athens staged in the “Andreas Papandreou” arena on the outskirts of the Hellenic capital was the scene of incidents in the stands: it was interrupted and then brought to a close.
With AEK leading 20-13 and a few seconds left to play in the first quarter, some hooded individuals attacked the people seated under the media stations. It was not easy to quell the brawl, which was completely unexpected.
Initially there were plans to evacuate the arena, but the option was discarded due to safety concerns. Many people still left the facility and went home.
