Carlos Alcaraz half happy
Alcaraz returns to winning ways but is not completely satisfied
Coming off a scheduled break after being eliminated in the first round of the Astana tournament, Carlos Alcaraz returned to success Monday night against Jack Draper in the opening round of the Atp Basel, again on concrete in an indoor arena.
However, the number one ranked player suffered not a little from the No. 45’s game, and needed nearly two and a half hours of play to win, in comeback, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Interviewed shortly after his success, Alcaraz showed that he was not totally happy with his performance: “I made a lot of mistakes at the beginning, I got caught up in the heat,” he said. “However, I feel good, I have many challenges on the horizon and I don’t want to stop.
After an irresistible rise Carlos Alcaraz in 2022 won his first Grand Slam title, at the US Open. With his victory in the U.S., he gained the top spot in the Atp rankings, becoming the youngest tennis player in history to achieve the feat, at the age of 19 years 4 months and 7 days.
