“The ambition is to make A done right.”

Already the top scorer in the last two B championships, with an impressive 42 goals in the season spread over the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, Massimo Coda began his new adventure at Genoa, which has since dropped down to the cadetteria, with the handbrake on. The double in Terni, decisive for his team’s victory, has put his goal average back on track a bit, which now reads 0.5 goals per game. Business as usual for a thoroughbred bomber like him.

Speaking to the microphones of GDM Live, on Gianluca Di Marzio’s Twitch channel, the native of Cava de’ Tirreni spoke about his choice to remain in Serie B despite the chance to play in the highest stage, which the striker has only trodden on 42 occasions in his career: “Serie A? I am a little sorry, but I had said since this summer that to a call from Genoa I could not say no. The ambition is to make the A series done right. Every now and then I think about Stefan Schwoch’s B scoring record – 135, compared to the current 106 of the Rossoblu bomber – : I still have a few years to go. If I had to choose, I would like to do one or two years in A and then aim for the record again,” Coda began.

“The classifca cannonieri? I always try. I fear Cheddira for sure, he has so much strength in his legs and always creates something with the ball, and also Inglese from Parma. Here in Genoa we have to win immediately, in such a square you cannot fail,” the player concluded.
