Lorenzo Musetti eliminated in the first round

Just three days after the great satisfaction of his success at the Naples ATP (beating Matteo Berrettini in the final), Lorenzo Musetti has to reckon with a bitter disappointment: in fact, the Carrara-based tennis player was eliminated in the first round of the Basel tournament by Spaniard Albert Ramos-Viñolas, a veteran of the world circuit.

Yet the match had started in the best way for Musetti, who was able to impose himself in the first set with a clear 6-1. In the next fraction, however, the tricolor athlete lost a game on his own serve giving the 5-3 to his opponent, who was then able to close in the next game and take the match to the third set.

Musetti seemed to settle any smears in the deciding set, going ahead by a break on 4-2: from there on, however, the light went out and Ramos-Viñolas won four consecutive games, closing on 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 a match that lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.
