Lorenzo Musetti amazes everyone on Davis Cup
Lorenzo Musetti sincere about Davis Cup
Lorenzo Musetti, fresh winner of the Naples ATP 250 after beating compatriot Matteo Berrettini in the final, indulged in an interview for La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Carrara-based tennis player, who this week reached his best ranking-he occupies the 23rd position in the world-began like this, “I am a new tennis player compared to the past. Now I go on court to win, I am more confident.”
He then commented on his success in Naples: “With Berrettini it was not easy, because at the end I saw that he was not well. I would have preferred it to be a hard-fought match with the same intensity until the end.”
“Florence? But what panic attacks! It was a blockage of digestion that created problems in my stomach so I was struggling to breathe properly,” Musetti added, debunking rumors of panic attacks.
Finally, he spoke about the Davis Cup, allowing himself to make a candid admission: “It’s a month away and I really hope Berrettini can get well to be with the group. We have a lot of desire to bring that Salad Bowl. Volandri knows I’m ready both to cheer from the bench and to take the court. If I were the captain I would always put Jannik Sinner and Berrettini as starters.”
