Paolo Di Canio goes down flat with Juventus.
Paolo Di Canio unabashed about Juve
Following their heavy defeat in Lisbon, Juventus said goodbye to the Champions League dream back in October. The last time the Bianconeri club was eliminated in the Champions group stage was in 2013, when Antonio Conte’s men were eliminated by Mancini’s Galatasaray.
Paolo Di Canio, speaking in the Sky Sport studios, commented unabashedly on the Bianconeri’s rout: “The goals Juventus took are embarrassing, some would not have been taken even by a team in Serie B. They took goals while they were all lined up. There is no collective focus, hunger and desire. You don’t need to be a fantastic center back to interpret the actions Juventus has taken. They are all behind the opponent: the first and third goals are something embarrassing. They have the opponent in range and no one chooses to absorb the movement.”
He then continued, rehashing, “Juve was embarrassing. There are times to catch up with the game, Benfica arrived in front of the goal without any problems. Juventus’ defensive phase in this match was ridiculous. Rereading the match by positively assessing the last 20 minutes would be a big mistake for the Bianconeri.”
