Jannik Sinner wins and advances in Vienna: now challenge to a big one
Jannik Sinner has reached the quarterfinals of the Vienna tournament.
Without particularly shining, Jannik Sinner beat Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in two sets to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Atp 500 tournament in Vienna.
The South Tyrolean tennis player, who had folded Chile’s Garin in the opener, prevailed with scores of 7-5, 6-3 in an hour and a half match. The Italian, clearly still not at his best, struggled in the first set where in the ninth game he risked losing his service game, then won 7-5.
In the second partial against world No. 29 Sinner was still not quite sure on serve, but breaks in the second and sixth games were decisive in winning the match. In the semifinals he will face the number one seed, Russia’s Medvedev.
