Mario Passetti says goodbye to Cagliari and apologizes
Cagliari is not having an easy time of it, and Stefano Capozucca and Mario Passetti were the ones to pay the price: both are no longer part of the island club.
Passetti wanted to say goodbye to the Rossoblù world in this way: “I had the chance to do my dream job for eight years and I will always thank the president for giving me the opportunity. I did it with all the competence and passion I have, never sparing myself and always putting Cagliari first.”
“I hope I was able to convey something to you and I apologize for all the times in which I was not a good leader. I am proud to have done this journey together with you and I thank you because, believe me, I have learned something from each of you that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Believe in yourselves and be confident: your commitment and passion will take you where you deserve to be. Forza Casteddu.” L’Unione Sarda reports.
The Scudetto won by Cagliari at the end of the 1969-70 season has remained in the history of Italian soccer. Manlio Scopigno was on the bench while the team’s star was Gigi Riva: the bomber scored 21 goals, boasting the title of top scorer for the third time in just four years. Riva ended his very long experience on the island in 1977, having scored something like 164 goals.
