Sofia Goggia returns to her most difficult challenge
Sofia Goggia returns to talk about the most complicated moment of last season
On the sidelines of the awarding of the “Fisi 2022 Athlete of the Year” prize, which she won in a tie with Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia also wanted to return to one of the toughest moments of last season, the injury that had threatened to jeopardize her participation in the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
“Last year’s was a feat that has immeasurable value for me,” the Bergamasque champion told the official channels of the Italian Winter Sports Federation; “I still wonder how it could have happened. I am glad it happened this way and it was the hardest challenge of my life. I overcame it with tenacity and I am very proud of it.”
Goggia, who showed up at the start of the Olympic downhill just 23 days after her serious knee injury, had managed to win an incredible silver medal, coming close to an encore of the gold she won four years earlier in Pyeongchang.
