Tricolor tennis also rejoices for Jasmine Paolini
Great day for Italian tennis
Day to remember for tricolor tennis at the women’s level: after Elisabetta Cocciaretto’s success in Mexico in the WTA 125 in Tampico, comes the news from Spain of Jasmine Paolini’s success in the W100 in Les Franquees del Valles, an ITF Pro Circuit tournament.
The 26-year-old from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana can thus add a trophy to her trophy case after beating Ukraine’s Kateryna Baindl with a double 6-4, accrued at the end of an hour and 35 minutes of play on cement.
The victory will allow Paolini from Monday to return to Italian number 3 in the rankings: she will in fact rise to 63rd in the world (Martina Trevisan is 27th, Lucia Bronzetti 60th), staying ahead of Cocciaretto (64th) and leaving out of the Italian top 5 Camila Giorgi, 69th in the world.
