Pecco Bagnaia champion, Valentino Rossi does not hide: “It’s about time”
Words of high praise, champion to champion.
Valentino Rossi greets Pecco Bagnaia, from this Sunday entered the list of MotoGP world champions. And the ‘Doctor’, interviewed by ‘Sky Sport’ at the end of the day, admitted that he groped not a little for the Ducati centaur (the first Italian to win the title after his success dating back to 2009).
“It was time for an Italian to come back and win the world championship. A very long time has passed since the last time. And this was the best possible way,” said Valentino Rossi. “The fact that it was Pecco who did it, for us, is something very special.
“The race was painful, but I felt calm – Valentino Rossi later admitted about the Valencia Grand Prix – Bagnaia managed to set the bike in the way he likes best already from the warm up. So he was able to go very strong, and compared to qualifying I saw him more relaxed. Then it must also be said that Quartararo also had a very high level race.”
“Pecco has a great quality, he shares his work with you. So to give him a hand is a great pleasure. And it applies to everyone who works with him,” Rossi then added about Pecco Bagnaia, newly crowned MotoGP world champion.
