Caroline Garcia Wins WTA Finals

Caroline Garcia is the new queen of the WTA Finals. The French tennis player overcame Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in two sets (7-6 6-4) in the final in Fort Worth, Texas.

The first set was dominated by the service turns with both players not conceding a single break ball, thus reaching the tie-break. Here the transalpine tennis player from an initial 0-2 disadvantage, strung together six consecutive points, ending the tie-break in her favor by 7 points to 4.

Unlike the first set, in the second partial Garcia immediately broke the balance by breaking Sabalenka’s serve in the opening game. That break would prove decisive as the French tennis player would retain it until the end, closing on her second match point with a score of 6-4.

With this success, Garcia will rise to No. 4 in the world rankings, her best ranking. She is also the eighth different player to win the WTA Finals in the last eight years.
