Red Bull board member Helmut Marko was quick to praise two-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen in the words of his interview with the Germans of ‘ntv’.

“Verstappen drives with more confidence than ever before and has developed a greater overview of the race. At the same time, however, he has turned into a tire whisperer. He is able to drive on the soft compound longer than his rivals, even though perhaps the latter have a harder tire,” the former driver explained.

“I haven’t seen his limit yet, since once he gets into the cockpit he is so confident from the very first practice session, from the very first lap. Then in the wet he is two seconds faster than the rest of the group in the first few laps. The only detail is that he needs very good grip and precision in the front, while the setting of the rear does not affect him that much. This very characteristic only makes the other drivers nervous. In the early stages of the season, Max Verstappen was as fast as Sergio Perez with a car that did not suit his driving style, but since the car was updated based on his input, he has been half a second faster,” Marko continued.
