Giorgio Furlani is Milan’s new chief executive officer

Giorgio Furlani will be the new CEO of Milan: it was announced on Friday afternoon by the Rossoneri club itself, which thus made official the replacement for Ivan Gazidis.

“AC Milan announced today that Giorgio Furlani has been appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Ivan Gazidis, who will end his term in early December,” the club’s note reads. Milanese and Milanista since birth, Furlani has been a member of AC Milan’s Board of Directors since 2018 and has played a key role in the club’s successes under the management of Elliott Advisors, who is leaving to take up his new position as CEO of AC Milan.

“When RedBird Capital Partners took it upon itself to become custodian of AC Milan, we said we would bring our expertise in sports, media and entertainment to the Club to bring it back to the pinnacle of European soccer, where it belongs,” Founder and Managing Partner of RedBird Capital Partners, Gerry Cardinale, commented on the sidelines of the appointment. In Giorgio we recognized the ideal CEO profile to lead the Club on a day-to-day basis and work closely with the RedBird team to turn that vision into reality. Giorgio has an in-depth knowledge of both the Club and the city of Milan and, more importantly, over the past four years he has won the esteem and trust of the entire team at Casa Milan. He will therefore be able to best manage the transition to his new leadership role to keep our focus on the challenging goals ahead. For this next chapter in Milan’s history, our vision is very clear, and to achieve it the RedBird team will work in full harmony with Giorgio and the entire Casa Milan management team.”

“I want to thank Gerry and the RedBird team for giving me the great honor of leading the Club I love as it embarks on a new phase of its rebirth,” the new Rossoneri CEO’s first words. “I look forward with enthusiasm to the prospect of working with President Scaroni, Paolo Maldini, Stefano Pioli, and more generally with the entire management of the Club: I am convinced that in the coming years, together, we can achieve new and great goals, on and off the field. Forza Milan!”
