MMA in mourning, Anthony Rumble Johnson dies at age 38
News that has left only so much sadness
As reported by ESPN, Anthony Rumble Johnson has passed away at the age of 38. His untimely death was announced, via social media, by Bellator MMA. The fighter, a heavyweight (23-6 in his career), had been struggling, for some time, with an illness.
“The Bellator family is devastated by his untimely death and extends its condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time,” the federation’s official statement. Johnson had fought in the UFC from 2007 to 2017, losing twice to Cornier for the light heavyweight title. Retiring in 2017, he had then returned to fighting in 2021, before learning of the illness.
