F1, Red Bull: an unabashed engineer on Max Verstappen
“Vettel was more complete,” said Guillaume Rocquelin.
During a chat with David Coulthard on the podcast “Le Fous de volant,” Guillame Rocquelin, former Red Bull race engineer, better known as “Rocky,” did not hesitate to criticize Max Verstappen’s technical abilities.
“I will be honest, Max is technically weak compared to other drivers we have worked with. I think he still has a lot of progress to make. He is a leader because of his attitude, because of his results, but I think he can improve technically and in the way he develops the car. Vettel has been more complete.”
“It’s no accident that Vettel won several titles. He was more technically and mentally prepared. I think Max has maybe more natural talent, and that’s what I relied on, but Sebastian was the most complete,” the former Red Bull track engineer concluded.
