Northern Ireland is also indigestible for the Blue Women
Friendly, Northern Ireland-Italy 1-0
Third autumn friendly and third defeat for the national women’s soccer team: in Belfast, the Azzurre were in fact defeated by Northern Ireland 1-0, the same score by which they were beaten on October 10 by Brazil and a few days ago by Austria.
The match played on Tuesday night was decided by Sarah McFadden’s goal in the 64th minute: the 35-year-old Northern Ireland striker was able to break into the box on the development of a corner kick, beating Laura Giuliani for the only goal of the match.
Despite the final siege, the Azzurri players were unable to find the equalizing goal: the last success thus remains that of last September 6 against Romania, decisive for qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
