Marcell Jacobs isn’t giving up anything ahead of Paris 2024
The words of Marcell Jacobs
Marcell Jacobs is preparing for an important new season. Under the supervision of technicians from CONI’s Institute of Sports Medicine and Science, the two-time Olympic champion underwent some tests for the analysis of the rhythmics of sprinting at the track of the Paolo Rosi Stadium and, within the laboratory, he carried out specific tests for the evaluation of muscle strength at the Acqua Acetosa Olympic Preparation Center in Rome.
“These are fundamental tests,” says the Italian sprinter, “for me and for my team led by my coach Paolo Camossi. It is important to understand with which limb I push more and in what I can improve: we have to work on the details to be able to go even stronger.”
Jacobs gave a well-rounded analysis, “I feel very good. This is the third week of preparation for next season. I’m feeling the fatigue but I’m already looking forward to the races. Goals? I want to do well at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul in early March. Then there will be the World Outdoor Championships: that’s the only medal I’m missing, it’s the goal of the year.”
This year, physical problems have limited the continuity of the star who triumphed at the Tokyo Games: “As soon as we feel good, we athletes want to compete. In the new season, I want to be in top form when it matters most. We have already proven several times that we are capable. Paris 2024? That will be another big goal. I will get there as a reigning Olympic two-time champion and I don’t know how I will feel. I’m looking forward to it.”
