Fiorentina, Nico Gonzalez tegola: longer-than-expected stop
Bad news in the Viola household
After muscle discomfort sustained on Thursday during the afternoon session with the Argentine national team, Nico Gonzalez underwent instrumental tests to assess the extent of the injury. The outcome did not yield the desired results: the Viola’s offensive outfielder suffered a second-degree hamstring injury in his left thigh.
It was the Florence club itself that made this known through a statement: “ACF Fiorentina makes it known that, late today morning, the Viola medical staff was informed by their Argentine colleagues of what happened yesterday to the athlete Nicolas Gonzalez. During the afternoon training session, the player was forced to leave the activity due to a muscular problem. Examinations carried out in the morning today showed a second-degree injury of the myotendinous junction of the biceps femoris of the left thigh. The player will return to Italy in the coming hours to begin the therapeutic and rehabilitative course.”
The recovery time has not been defined, but since it is an injury the South American footballer will have to stay in the pits as a minimum 40 days, with the risk that the stop will be lengthened. Fiorentina and his coach Vincenzo Italiano hope to have him back for the resumption of the championship but it is not a given, everything will depend on the therapy and subsequent controls. This is bad news for the Viola, which has so far had Nico Gonzalez available with dropper drops.
