Roma, one striker’s renewal gets complicated
Stephan El Shaarawy’s renewal is getting complicated: the Roma player’s contract expires in June 2023 but his 3.5 million euro salary weighs like a boulder on the Giallorossi’s finances. The Capitoline management will try to offer the former AC Milan man a salary at much lower figures than the current ones and, if no agreement is reached, the Pharaoh will settle elsewhere.
Born in Savona on October 27, 1992, El Shaarawy grew up footballingly in Legino. In 2006 he moved to Genoa where he stayed until 2010, then went on loan to Padova. The following year he was bought by AC Milan and in the Rossoneri he scored 21 goals in 83 games.
After a loan at Monaco in 2015 he joined Roma, then in 2019 he tried the Chinese experience with Shanghai Shenhua. Nostalgia for Italy made him return to the capital in 2021.
