Ferrari and Mattia Binotto’s future: Frederic Vasseur won’t shut up the rumors
Rumors about the Cavallino continue unabated.
Mattia Binotto and his future at Ferrari have been two of the hottest topics around the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final chapter of the 2022 Formula 1 season. So many attempts by both the Maranello team principal and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz not to address such a sensitive issue with one race still to run. On the matter, however, great is also the interest around the version of Frederic Vasseur, his eventual replacement.
If in fact Binotto and Vasseur showed up together at the Yas Marina circuit on Friday, the current Alfa Romeo team principal kept a low profile exactly like his colleague. At the same time, however, he hinted that something is brewing in a quick but significant statement to ‘RTBF,’ a Belgian French-language broadcaster.
“I won’t tell you anything now, but soon you will know more,” are the words Vasseur reportedly addressed to Gaetan Vigneron, at least according to the latter’s statement to the ‘RTBF’ microphones. Almost certain, however, that no news will come before the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Whether I will be the team principal of Ferrari in 2023? It is not for me to decide, but I am serene. We have had ups and downs, but we are back to being competitive. The results show that the team has worked well and is capable of getting results. We are united,” he had said on the Binotto affair during the pre-Grand Prix press conference in Abu Dhabi.
