Dominik Paris leads men-jet to Lake Louise
Dominik Paris in Lake Louise
The engines are warming up for the downhill racers on the Lake Louise slope, where the World Cup fast races will kick off this weekend with an intense three-day event featuring a downhill on Friday, Nov. 25 (8:30 p.m. Italian time), followed by two super-giants on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27 (8:30 p.m., also live on Raisport and Eurosport). All preceded by three days of official training, starting Tuesday, Nov. 22. In Canada are Dominik Paris, Christof Innerhofer, Mattia Casse, Emanuele Buzzi, Matteo Marsaglia, Guglielmo Bosca, Nicolò Molteni, Florian Schieder, Matteo Franzoso, Giovanni Franzoni and Pietro Zazzi. As a reminder, the team led by Massimo Carca can field up to eight competitors in the downhill and seven in the super-giant, plus Franzoni, who is entitled to a spot in each race as last year’s European Cup winner.
The roll of honor on the North American slope counts three victories by Italy: Paris was the last to impose himself in the downhill in 2013, preceded by Peter Fill also in the downhill in 2008 and Herbert Plank in 1980. The Val d’Ultimo champion counts a total of five podiums on the Men’s Olympic (in addition to the aforementioned success, two second places in downhill and super-giant in 2019, two third places in downhill in 2018 and in super-giant in 2014), while Innerhofer was second in downhill in 2018.
