Following Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini is Lorenzo Musetti
Five in the top 100
After the Nitto ATP Finals, on the eve of the trip to Malaga for the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals, Italy can boast five players in the Top 100 and 19 in the Top 200. Spain will be without Italy’s two Top 20 players, Jannik Sinner (world No. 15) and Matteo Berrettini (16), who are both injured.
There will be Lorenzo Musetti, who in 2022 gained 23 positions in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings: he started at No. 59, touched a best ranking of No. 23, his current ranking position. It is the fruit of the season of the definitive explosion of the 20-year-old from Carrara, who won his first two ATP titles in Hamburg and Naples.
Also in the Top 100 for Italy are Lorenzo Sonego (45) and Fabio Fognini (56), who forms with Simone Bolelli the 11th best doubles pair in the world this season.
As for the past week, of note is the progress of Mattia Bellucci, who equaled this week’s best ranking of No. 155 after reaching the round of 16 at the Helsinki Challenger.
