Olimpia Milano, Ettore Messina reveals a backstory on Efes coach
Olimpia Milan will face off against the defending Euroleague champions
Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina spoke at the press conference on the eve of the challenge that will see the Milan team opposing the Euroleague champions in the last two editions: the Turkish Anadolu Efes.
Greg Popovich’s former assistant at the San Antonio Spurs gave an assessment of the opponents and their coach, Ergin Ataman: “We face the best team in Europe in the last two years, which has a lot of talent and an excellent tactical organization guaranteed by coach Ataman, who by the way is a friend. We know it will be a very tough game, in which we aim to improve, in which we want to express ourselves with personality and then see at the end where we stand.”
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team came back to win the Scudetto, unseating Virtus Segafredo Bologna. The Biancorossi, who had finished in second place right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team in the regular season, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again. In the Euroleague, Sergio Rodriguez (who said goodbye to the Red Shoes in the summer to return to Spain) and his teammates were eliminated by Ergin Ataman’s Anadolu Efes, who would win the tournament for the second year in a row.
