Lewandowski slams into Ochoa: Poland-Mexico ends 0-0
Barcelona player gets his penalty saved by Ochoa
Second consecutive 0-0 at the Qatar 2022 World Cup: after Denmark-Tunisia, Poland-Mexico also ended in a scoreless draw.
At the beginning of the match both formations try to take charge of the game but without creating major headaches for their respective goalkeepers. The sharpest chance happened in the 26th on the head of Vega who, however, put just wide. As the fraction ends, the Mexicans’ push grows more and more, especially on the flank of Irving Lozano and fullback Jorge Sanchez. It endures 0-0 until halftime, however.
In the first minutes of the second half it is still the South Americans who try with more conviction for the lead but in the 54th Lewandowski earns a penalty awarded after Var intervention. On the penalty spot is the Barcelona striker himself, but he is hypnotized by Ochoa who keeps the result in a draw.
Not much more happens: few chances and many shots from outside the box. Poland and Mexico earn a point that allows both to overtake Argentina, which lost to Saudi Arabia in the 11 Italian match.
