All the regret of Lorenzo Musetti, beaten by Taylor Fritz

The task to which Musetti was called, i.e., to beat Taylor Fritz to give Italy qualification to the Davis Cup semifinals, was certainly not an easy one given the caliber of the opponent, yet the young Italian feels he wasted an opportunity: this was explained by Musetti himself, at the microphones of ‘Sky Sport,’ on the sidelines of the match on the cement of Malaga.

“I played a very good first set but I was not able to take advantage of my chances,” said the Carrara-born player. “I think at that moment the match was a bit decided. Fritz was good but I overplayed my hand, I was in too much of a hurry.”

“I feel sorry for the team because I wanted to close the games after Sonego’s wonderful match, but I couldn’t do it,” concluded Musetti, still very regretful.
