Qatar 2022, Morocco surprises Belgium
Morocco tops Martinez’s men 2-0
Surprise in the 2 p.m. Italian match between Belgium and Morocco, valid for the second day of Group F at the World Cup in Qatar: the African outfit overcame the Red Devils 2-0 thanks to goals by Sampdoria player Sabiri and Aboukhlal in the midst of the recovery.
The first half was certainly not exciting, with Roberto Martinez’s men trying to play the game, but struggling against Morocco’s great aggressiveness, which had also been seen in the first match against Croatia. At the end of the fraction, the players led by coach Regragui found the go-ahead goal on Ziyech’s free kick, thanks to an indecision by Courtois, but the referee annulled for an offside that hindered precisely the Belgian extreme defender.
In the second half, Belgium fails to express its soccer, rather it is the North African national team that most insistently seeks the goal of 1-0, which arrives in the 73rd thanks to the newly-entered Sabiri, who on a free kick manages to overcome the goalkeeper of the Red Devils and Real Madrid, also on this occasion not perfect. He closed the file Aboukhlal in the 93rd, on an assist from Ziyech.
Fundamental victory for Morocco, which momentarily takes the lead in the group, after drawing in the opener against world vice-champions Croatia.
