Ferrari, Carlos Sainz sends a message to Mattia Binotto
Carlos Sainz on the resignation of the former team principal
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, just as Charles Leclerc did, entrusted his Instagram profile with words for Mattia Binotto, who resigned from his role as team principal of the Maranello-based stable.
“Thank you Mattia. It has been a pleasure working alongside you to advance the team and ourselves in good times and bad. Thank you for the good memories and the moments we shared on and off the track, I wish you the best in your future endeavors,” wrote the Spaniard, who finished fifth in the drivers’ standings in the season just ended.
Carlos Sainz Jr., was born in Madrid on Sept. 1, 1994. He is the son of driver Carlos Sainz, a two-time world rally champion and three-time winner of the Dakar Rally. Despite his father’s successes on dirt roads, Carlos immediately opted for Formula 1, making his debut in 2015 driving a Toro Rosso. After two seasons with the current AlphaTauri, one in Renault and one in McLaren, Sainz officially became a Ferrari driver in 2021. In the colors of the Maranello-based stable, the Spaniard took the first career pole position at Silverstone on July 2, 2022, and the following day he scored the first victory of his Formula 1 career, at the end of a race masterfully conducted in adverse weather conditions. With his success in Britain, Sainz became the second Spanish driver to win a GP in F1, after only Fernando Alonso.
