F1, Christian Horner explains where Daniel Ricciardo will help Red Bull
Former McLaren driver will be Red Bull’s third driver
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner spoke about the importance of Daniel Ricciardo, the Austrian team’s new third driver and reigning world champion in both the constructors’ and drivers’ categories, during the 2023 season.
“Daniel will give us the opportunity to diversify our work, helping in the development of the car and assisting the team with his experience and knowledge in order to indicate what it takes to succeed in F1,” the British executive explained.
The Australian driver had previously been driving a Red Bull single-seater from 2014 to 2019, then two seasons at Renault and two at McLaren, where in the last championship he finished 11th in the standings, with 37 points won but no podium finishes. With the British stable, Ricciardo won the 2021 Monza GP.
