Juan Carlos Ferrero does not want dips from Carlos Alcaraz

The year 2022 was the year of consecration for Carlos Alcaraz, who was able to win an ATP 250, two ATP 500s, two Masters 1000s and, most importantly, the US Open well before he turned 20, ending the season in first place in the world rankings.

However, cuo coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, does not want any dips and, speaking to ‘Arab News,’ is peremptory: “You cannot tell someone that the first position in the ranking allows you to train less, in fact it is the exact opposite. There are many aspects in which Carlos needs to improve, we will work hard on those.”

For Ferrero, therefore, the room for growth for Alcaraz is still huge: “On the forehand we need to fix some details, also the backhand needs to be improved further. And then he needs to find continuity with his serve and in response. Not forgetting the net game, which should clean up a bit.”

What can’t be taught, however, is charisma: “Carlos already had a lot of it when he was 16, 17 years old,” Ferrero explained. “It doesn’t surprise me that so many people already love him.
