Son is on the bench of the Houston Rockets

The NBA mourns one of its champions. Paul Silas, a former great rebounder capable of winning three NBA rings (two with the Boston Celtics jersey, one with the Seattle Sonics), has died at age 79. Selected five times to the league’s best defensive quintet, he was an All Star twice.

With his long playing career over, he began coaching. So many franchises he led, including that of a rookie LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavs, whose first mentor he was. His son Stephen is now on the bench of the Houston Rockets. News of his passing was given by his daughter, Paula Silas-Guy, to The New York Times.
