The Briton in the lead in Obereggen

It is 26-year-old Briton Taylor who leads the standings after the first run of the prestigious European Cup slalom in Obereggen (20 minutes from Bolzano), the heart in the Dolomites of the Ski Center Latemar ski area.

On the challenging Maierl slope (maximum gradient: 55 percent) in Obereggen. Taylor, bib number 10, went down in 49 seconds, 93 hundredths, 21 hundredths ahead of Frenchman Rassat and 22s ahead of German Anton Tremmel, second in Obereggen a year ago. Sixteenth was the first of the Italians: Tobias Kastlunger (51.39 +1 second 46 hundredths), fresh from an excellent 10th place in the first World Cup slalom of the season in Val d’Isere last Sunday. For him and the other skiers who hoped for more from the first run, the chance to make up for it in the second run, starting at 1 p.m.
