F1, Mick Schumacher’s new role official
Mick Schumacher raced with Haas until the end of the last season
The new role for Mick Schumacher is official. The young driver born in 1999 until the recently ended season raced for the German Haas team and is now ready to start a new adventure, after his old team preferred to rely on the experienced Nico Hulkenberg for 2023.
Mercedes has in fact announced that, starting next season, Michael’s son will have the role of third driver within the Brackley-based stable.
“Mick will play an important role in the ongoing development of the W14. He will conduct regular work in the Brackley simulator throughout the year as we react to a challenging 2022 season. This work will be leveraged trackside as Mick will also attend all Grands Prix in his new role, in addition to performing marketing tasks throughout the year,” reads the note released by the German team through its official channels.
“Mick joins the team after spending the last two years racing for the Haas F1 Team. He started 43 races and scored his first points in the 2022 British Grand Prix, where he finished eighth. Result confirmed the following week with sixth place at the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, which remains the best finish in his F1 career,” the release continues.
