Al-Khelaifi blurts out about Lionel Messi’s future
The Argentine star’s contract will expire in June 2023
Perhaps right now what his future will be in club teams is not on his mind at all. Probably, with only a few dozens of hours left until the final at Lusail Stadium – yep, the very facility where, on November 22, the Albiceleste resoundingly lost their World Cup opener against Saudi Arabia – his head is focused only on the World Cup goal. The eyes of the entire planet are on Leo Messi, who is now one step away from crowning the dream of taking his Argentina back to the roof of the world and equaling Diego Armando Maradona’s feat in Mexico ’86.
However, there are those who, for obvious reasons of practical convenience, are more than interested in knowing the wishes of one of the best players in activity. He is, of course, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who was intercepted by the microphones of RMC Sport and asked if he was sure that the Argentine star, regardless of the outcome of the final with France, would still remain with the Parisian outfit. More than legitimate questions considering that although there is an option to extend for another year, Pulga’s contract expires next June.
“If we both want to continue, it will continue. We thought about talking after the World Cup. I confirm a thousand times that he is very happy with the club, he is having a very good season. I think he wants to stay,” said the businessman and former Qatari tennis player.
