Qatar 2022, Morocco still angry: ‘Final annoying’
North Africans’ coach Walid Regragui: “We will not risk some players.”
Morocco coach Walid Regragui called the third/fourth place final against Croatia at the Qatar 2022 World Cup “troublesome.” “It is difficult to embellish tomorrow’s match and fill it with meaning, it is Sunday’s final that we wanted to play. This match is annoying to play, handling a disappointment is always complicated.”
Morocco complained about refereeing in the semifinal with France: “When there are refereeing errors it is good to point them out. If the penalty had been whistled would we have qualified for the final? You can’t say, but still the penalty for us was there. This should be pointed out, as all Federations do. I repeat: it doesn’t change anything, we also wish France good luck, but I think we were penalized by not being awarded a penalty and at least a yellow card to Sofiane Boufal.”
