France, Didier Deschamps frosty on Karim Benzema
France coach speaks on eve of final: “I don’t deal with invitations…”
France coach Didier Deschamps spoke on the eve of the World Cup final against Argentina: “The virus? I don’t want to go into details. We are taking the best precautions, the doctors are working well, we are managing. Let’s not exaggerate the situation. If this thing had not occurred, it would have been better, but it is so.”
On the presence or absence of Karim Benzema at the stadium, Deschamps responded as follows, “If I didn’t talk about the thing, you would say I’m angry, so I’ll clarify a bit. Some players got injured before the competition, Karim is one of them. Since then I have 24 players to manage. I don’t handle invitations for the finals to injured players or former players. Some will be there, some will not. I don’t know.”
On the clash with Messi: “The Argentines and Messi want the title, even in France someone is rooting for him, but we disagree, we want to win the World Cup. We did everything to get to the final, we have the goal of another title.”
