Gennaro Gattuso remembers Sinisa Mihajlovic

Gennaro Gattuso, in a statement released to ‘Ansa,’ wanted to pay tribute to the memory of Sinisa Mihajlovic, a day after his passing.

“I can proudly say that I was a friend of Sinisa Mihajlovic,” said the current Valencia coach. “Between us there was mutual respect and esteem that united us even though we were never teammates.

“I think that today we should not mourn his passing, he would not want to,” Gattuso added: instead, towards him we need the respect that is due to the passing of a man like him. And respect is shown by remembering what he always taught: I remember so many photos of Sinisa with his large family, so many pictures of his players huddled around him in the most difficult moments, and this is what ‘being a man’ is for me, being able to transmit your values and make those around you learn to share them because for everyone you were an example. Thank you for everything Sinisa.”
